As some of you know, I am passionate about science advocacy and science policy. I am excited to share with you the Special Collection issue of the Annals of the Entomological Society of America on Science Policy. I was honored to be invited to contribute, and am actually a coauthor on two of the papers!

You can read it here.

I was in graduate school during the 2013 federal shutdown and had many friends and colleagues, both active federal employees and people who worked with them, lose colonies or data or an entire experiment they spent months setting up.

And it's affecting researchers again. I was interviewed for this piece, which I think does a great job highlighting the effect the current record shutdown is having.

I know that technically this is old news, but I have been working pretty frantically on the USDA NIFA ELI Postdoctoral Research Grant I was awarded this year (see Urban Bees). As a result of this award, my name appears in this list of other UA researchers who got awards this year! I was also given this fancy paperweight, though I have no idea what to do with this thing.
